Adoption Questionnaire

Sally

Every day we receive requests to rehome ACDs. These requests come from families who cannot keep their dogs anymore, from caring people who have found a dog on the roadside, and, overwhelmingly, from shelters throughout our region. Many of these dogs die by injection or in gas chambers because we simply do not have enough foster homes for them. If you are interested in adopting an  Rescued Australian Cattle Dog, please read our Notes on Adopting an ACD, check out our current listing of available dogs in ACDRA foster homes, and fill out our Adoption Questionnaire and send it to the appropriate foster home.

We have a constant, desperate need for reliable, caring homes for our dogs to go to until they are ready to be adopted. A dog coming from a shelter typically needs a great deal of love, medical care, and attention before it is ready to be adopted into a family. We rely on our foster families to provide this care.  If you are interested in being a foster home, please read our All About Fostering page, and fill out a Foster Home Application.

For those ACDs we are unable to take into foster care due to lack of space, we do our best to try to help them by offering a listing service for them as well.  We list ACDs in shelters in our region on our Shelter Dogs Page and we have yet another page for those ACDs already in homes, but, for one reason or another, need to find a new home.  We refer to these as Owner Placement Dogs.  These are courtesy listings, and these dogs have not been evaluated by ACDRA team members, and therefore inquiries about the dogs on those pages needs to go to the contact listed for each dog.  We also offer a cross-listing service for other rescue groups who are currently fostering ACDs as well - you can see them on our Other Approved Rescue Groups page.  Again, these dogs have not been evaluated by ACDRA and all inquiries should be directed to the respective rescue group.

NOTE: ACDRA helps with rescue ONLY in the Mid-and North-Atlantic regions of the US - that includes the area from North Carolina north through Maine.
